When laid-off warehouse worker Eddie Ramirez takes a temp job to pay the bills, he doesn't expect his new boss to be the Grim Reaper. His assignment: catalog the increasingly bizarre deaths in California's High Desert. The perks? He can't permanently die, respawning at a Circle K after each fatal incident. The catch? He's forbidden from intervening. But as ancient evils crawl from the sun-scorched earth and cosmic horrors start eyeing his hometown, Eddie decides some rules are meant to be broken, even if it means generating a hell of a lot of paperwork for the afterlife's most overworked middle manager.
